Children’s playground, skittle alleys and tennis courts are right in the centre of Achslach. And open air swimming pools, saunas, gyms, massage, indoor tennis, mini golf and the Rusel golf course are not far away. The local fishing club provides angling facilities and Bad Kötzting (30 kilometres) has the attraction of the casino.
The amazing 15th century reliquary casket of St. Hilarius can be seen in the tower of the parish church of St. Jacob. The altar of the chapel in Lindenau houses reliquary pyramids.
If you are making your way to the viewing tower on the Hirschenstein, you should stop for a while at the idyllic mountain meadow of Ödwies with its old forest house and mountain chapel.
With its high mountains, the Achslach-Lindenau area is an ideal base for winter walks in one of the most snow sure areas in the Bavarian Forest. Curling and skating on natural ice, transport to the disco skating at the indoor skating rink every Saturday evening, horse drawn carriage rides, winter walks through the forest or tobogganing – there is something for all the family. And romantic torch lit walks are not only an experience for lovers.
