Wheelchair accessible hiking trails in the ARBERLAND

Therefore, the following hiking paths are certified according to the criteria of the federal characterisation “Reisen für Alle” (Travelling for everybody) and are entitled to have the labelling “Barrierfreiheit geprüft” (Accessibility proofed).

• Spa park Bischofsmais - Holunderlehrpfad
• Spa park Regen – sculpture trail and fishing educational trail
• Circular path „Gläserne Gärten“ (Crystal Gardens) in Frauenau
• The visitor’s circular path „Wildtiere“ (wild animals) with Stone Age Cave in the National Park Centre Falkenstein
• Circular path "Großer Arbersee"

The following hiking paths are almost obstacle free and in company also accessible for wheelchair users!

• Wanderpark (Hiking park) Bayerisch Eisenstein
  The hiking park is an ideal starting point for hikes to the new part of the National Park. Character: untouched paths, partly gravel paths.
• Buggy Tour Arbersee
  An unforgettable hiking tour to one of the scenic highlights of the Bavarian Forest. Starting point at the tourist information Bayerisch Eisenstein, along the hiking path Nr. 8 (red, angular). Length: ca. 5 km. Character of the path: tarmac road, gravel paths
• The Ameisenstraße (ant road) – A Hiking Path for Children
  Round the Ameisenstraße – a small hiking tour with four different path variants. Green Ant: Basic path, 1,2 km; Blue Ant: Extension of the basic path, 0,6 km; Red Ant: to the lookout, 0,4 km (not buggy suitable); Yellow Ant: connecting road Waldbahn- Stop – Fitness parcours, 1 km. Starting point at the entry of the fitness parcours, near “Riederin” or at the Waldbahn-Stop Böhmhof in Bodenmais. Length: 2,5 km. Character of the path: untouched paths, gravel paths, tarmac road.
• Buggy Tour Altherrenweg
  A cozy stroll round the Laubberg, suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. Starting point at the village square Oberauerkiel in Böbrach, district Auerkiel. Length: 2,5 km. Character of the path: cart way
• Plattenstein Circular Path
  An easy hiking tour that is especially suitable for families and rewards with wonderful views over the Bavarian Forest and the Deggendorfer Land. Sights: House of the Bees. Starting point at the church in the village Raindorf, along the “Red 9”. Length: 6,4 km. Character of the path: untouched paths.
• Schwellhäusl – Circular Path
  A scenically beautiful circular path, partly vegetated with moss, that is advisable for families. The hiking destination Schwellhäusl is also accessible over a forest road and therefore suitable for buggies and hampered people. Starting point: Info-Pavilion at the entrance of Zwieselerwaldhaus.
  Length: 8 km. Characterisation of the path: untouched paths.
• From Zwiesel to Lindberg
  Start: Parking lot Rotwald (B11, exit Rotwald). Along the beautiful cycling path to Lindberg. You go back on the same path.
• Water Reservoir Dam
  Start: Parking water reservoir dam. From here ca. 1,5 km to the dam crest. Cross it and follow the tarred and traffic free road on the right along the water reservoir (ca. 3 km). You get back to the starting point on the same way.
• Circular path at Zwieselerwaldhaus
  An idyllic and interesting forest hiking path that leads through the integral nature reserve Mittelsteighütte in the extended National Park Area. Starting point is the parking at the end of the village Zwieselerwaldhaus. Length: 2 km. Character of the path: Untouched paths.
• Treetop Path in Sankt Englmar
  On the 30 m high canopy path you can experience the forest from a different perspective. Comfortable path 2,5 m broad – ideal for buggies and wheelchair users. The observation deck offers a beautiful view to the south over the mountain range of the Bavarian Forest, the Danube Valley and the plain of the Gäuboden up to the Alps.
